Bright + Modern Kitchen Remodel

From Builder Basic to Clean, Elevated & Functional

This kitchen remodel is a perfect example of how strategic design updates can completely transform a space — without changing the footprint.

The Before

The original kitchen was functional but visually heavy and dated.

• Raised-panel white cabinets
• Laminate countertops
• Multicolored glass mosaic backsplash
• Basic lighting
• Minimal island presence

While it worked, it didn’t feel intentional. The space lacked contrast, warmth, and the custom details that make a kitchen feel thoughtfully designed.

The homeowners wanted something brighter, more modern, and easier to maintain — but still timeless.

The Design Direction

Our goal was to create a kitchen that felt:

• Light but grounded
• Modern but not trendy
• Clean-lined and highly functional
• Warm and welcoming for everyday life

We focused on contrast, proportion, and layered lighting to bring it all together.

What We Updated

Full-Height Shaker Cabinetry

We installed soft white shaker cabinets that extend to the ceiling, eliminating the previous visual gaps and creating a more custom, architectural look.

Matte Black Hardware

The black pulls introduce sharp contrast against the cabinetry, giving the space a modern edge without overpowering the softness of the palette.

Quartz Countertops

Durable quartz countertops brighten the space while offering clean veining and low-maintenance performance — perfect for daily cooking and entertaining.

Statement Green Tile Backsplash

The horizontal stacked green tile brings subtle color and texture into the design. It’s calm, earthy, and timeless — adding personality without overwhelming the room.

Updated Lighting

We layered lighting intentionally:
• Glass pendant fixtures over the island
• Under-cabinet lighting to highlight the backsplash
• Soft ambient ceiling lighting

Lighting transformed this kitchen from flat to dimensional.

Black Faucet + Updated Fixtures

The matte black faucet ties into the hardware and creates a cohesive visual story across the room.

New Flooring

Warm-toned wood flooring grounds the bright cabinetry and balances the crisp finishes above.

Functional Island Upgrade

The island now serves as both prep space and seating — clean lines, generous surface area, and seating for gathering.

The Result

This kitchen now feels:

• Brighter
• More open
• More intentional
• More elevated

It’s proof that thoughtful material selection and contrast can take a builder-grade space and turn it into something that feels custom and curated.

At Everstead Design Build, we design kitchens that don’t just look beautiful — they function beautifully for real life.
